Wear black. It is always safe. If people are dressed up, you don’t stand out as too casual, and if people are casual, you just look nicely dressed, but not over dressed. For a guy, black pants and a button up/polo shirt, for girls, black skirt with a cute blouse or a simple black dress, maybe even a black summer dress with a little sweater over the top.

I would always wear some sort of dress or skirt. Usually also stockings, black or **** and some kind of open-toed shoes.
Girls that wear jeans or slacks and sneakers(or flats) to a school dance probably also wear them to church and are very lazy. Which says a lot about them… their parents… and their upbringing.
Hint. Social Function = dress nice. You aren’t going out to feed the cows ya know?
